Canton Scanner
An internal block explorer for the Canton Network, built around its privacy model. Canton exposes no single public view of all transactions, so instead of scanning a global chain the scanner assembles its own searchable database from only the ledger data a company or participant is authorised to see.
- Connected to the Canton Ledger API and retrieved the Active Contract Set, establishing current ledger state so balances resolve accurately before any new activity is processed.
- Followed new ledger transactions live, parsing Canton’s transaction trees rather than flat records to extract the relevant transfer activity.
- Modelled contract holdings, transfers, parties and ledger position in SQLite, so balances and histories are queried directly instead of reprocessing raw ledger data.
- Persisted the last processed ledger offset, letting the scanner resume where it stopped after a restart rather than rebuilding the database from scratch.
- Built a tracker on top surfacing a party’s current balance and full history of transfers.
